The year Frank and Anita Milford married, Alexander Fleming announced to the world his discovery of penicillin, and Amelia Earhart made her transatlantic flight. It was even before Great Britain began using the one pound note.
Now, 80 years later, Frank at 100 and Anita at 99 are proud of becoming the longest-living married couple in the United Kingdom. They’ve been through a lot as they enter their ninth decade together, including a bomb being dropped on their home during World War II. And they have advice for helping couples survive the years with a vibrant marriage.
Anita said: "Couples these days don't last long because they don't take enough time for each other. There just isn't enough respect. Our advice to young couples would be to make time for a little romance every day."
