First, their alcoholic mom left. Later, police stormed the house and took away their father. Then Josh, Jake and Christina spent years in and out of foster care and group care before they lost touch with each other.
For years, they longed to know how each other were doing, where they were and what they looked like. Then Jake, on a whim, Jake used his new MySpace account and searched for the last name he knew she used.
The search revealed a girl that looked like him and had a January birthday, like he remembered. After an awkward initial interchange, he wrote
'i am pretty sure that i know u'
From that point, it was only hours before the three siblings were reunited. As it turns out, they all lived within 45 minutes from each other in a state far away from their birth.
The original story ran in the St. Petersburg Times last August, but we only became aware of it recently when ABC news re-aired the siblings' unlikely reunion. Although the story contains some course language (cleaned up for print), the story is a touching one worth reading. It reminds us that God has built in each of us a desire to be connected through family.
